The duties of the Railway Protection Force include:

1. To do all conducive means for the free movement of the railways

2. Protecting and safeguarding the railway property

3. Protection and safeguarding of passenger, their belongings and passenger areas

Qualifications & Other Criteria

• A degree from any recognised university.

• Candidates must be within 21-29 years of age

•Candidates must be a citizen of India or, if of any other nationality, must be of Indian origin

•The direct recruitment is done through the Civil Services Examination conducted by the UPSC. The candidate has to appear for a Written Test and an Interview or a Personality Test.
